The Discovery Channel’s new “brand campaign” is awful.

The World’s Biggest Fan of the World?  Really?  That’s the best you could do?  Was the slogan from a contest or did they actually pay for it?

That is just stupid.  And all of those childless travelers who think otherwise can stuff it.

Some idiot visiting a hospital in the Netherlands asked that a painting of three pigs be removed so that Muslims wouldn’t be offended.  This was not a Muslim making the request.  This was some liberal do-gooder suffering from guilticulturalism.

This is not a good thing.  Topiramate is an anti-epileptic drug which has the side effect of reduced appetite.  It also has the side effect of making people stupid.  According to MedPage Today,

Topiramate, an anti-epileptic, is known to cause suicidal thoughts; however, there were no suicide attempts or suicidal behaviors in the company’s trial of the combination product.

Topiramate is also linked to impaired attention and concentration, memory loss, slowed thinking, and language difficulties, and adding phentermine to the mix didn’t seem to mitigate those cognitive issues. Patients taking the combination were four times more likely to experience a cognitive disorder compared with placebo. The issues went away once patients stopped taking the drug.

I’ve taken topiramate and that is exactly what it did.  Some people can take high doses without severe effects but I had side effects on a very low dose.  Not enough to reduce my appetite but certainly enough to affect attention and thinking.  I hate to imagine what would have happened on a higher dose.

So, fat or stupid?  I’ll take fat, thanks.

The Canadian Forces are going to give General Services medals to Tim Hortons employees in Afghanistan.

It’s the ultimate participation award.

They are also decreasing the amount of time one has to actually be in a combat zone in order to qualify for a medal to just 30 days.  Seriously.  I completely agree with this quote from the National Post article:

Gordon Ritchie, president of Montreal’s Black Watch Association veteran’s group, vehemently disagrees with the change in eligibility, which he thinks waters down the importance of the honour: “You’re going to get a lot of rear-echelon people who just go over to hunt for medals, do their 30 days in some place safe and say, ‘Look I did my time in Afghanistan, I’m a hero, worship me.’”

The Childhood Obesity Task Force has recommended moving nutrition labels from the back of products to the front as part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” Campaign.

Whew.  Now we won’t have to actually pick up the packages.

Next step:  Prepacked groceries.  You tell them age, gender, and BMI for each person in your household and the government will sell you the assigned box of groceries.  No need to say thanks.  Or to think for yourself.

Anyone can get a driver’s license.  Even people with low IQs and little to no common sense can drive a car.  Frightening, no?

Tell your children to not chew on hockey sticks.

You could have a 100% lead hockey stick and it would not hurt you personally* as long as you DON’T CHEW ON IT!

* It would be rather heavy and you shouldn’t hit anyone with it.

Schools are being discouraged from including yoga in physical education classes because yoga has a “religious” component.  Seriously?  Really?  Are you sure?

I know that yoga started in eastern religions although I can’t remember whether it is hinduism or buddhism or something else.  So?  It’s now become so mainstream that people of all faiths practice it as EXERCISE.  It’s stretching and breathing.  That’s all.  Do you think that children will get more excited about a “stretching class” or a “yoga class.”  Exactly … yoga.

My first response was actually a question.  Why are powwows and round dances held in our schools but we can’t have yoga?  First Nations spirituality is religion.  That can’t be denied.

Do you know who is NOT complaining about yoga in our school?  Parents.  And more specifically, religious parents including Muslim parents.  No parents have complained.  In fact, parents are sending their children to school with yoga mats to do yoga with a yoga instructor.

Basically, yoga will be dropped to satisfy the guilticulturalism tendencies of someone in administration.  No more sun salutes just in case someone might possibly be offended.

What next?

The people who say “I have bad credit” have it all wrong.  They need to take ownership of the problem and stop acting as if someone gave them bad credit.  They should stand up tall and say “I am a bad credit risk.”  After that, they should STOP BORROWING MONEY and PAY BACK WHAT THEY OWE!
