Images of Mohammed

If you need some inspiration for your contribution to “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day”, you can visit Zombie‘s compilation of images of Mohammed.  The image archive includes paintings and drawings both ancient and modern.  Many of the images were made by Muslims.  Did you know that images of Mohammed were not prohibited until around 1600CE?  The ban is not in the Quran and is intended to keep Muslims from worshipping Mohammed instead of Allah.  Doesn’t seem to have worked.

At least one blog has been created specifically for “Everyone Draw Mohammed Day” is compiling drawings and links to participating blogs.  You should check out Aaron’s site for more information.

By the way, do you think that this painting from the Muslim Medical Association of Canada web page depicts Mohammed?  I think that it does.
