“Honor” crime in Saskatchewan
February 9, 2010
Thankfully, it wasn’t an honor killing. The victim is now in foster care.
Ibrahim Osman, a Somali refugee in Regina, beat his sister for going to a club. He’s pled guilty but charges are still pending against the mother. Oh, and Ibrahim threatened to kill her a month ago.
I think that we need an information sheet for new immigrants which spells out in no uncertain terms how we behave here.
We do not punish family members for embarrassing us.
We do not beat people.
We do not threaten to kill people.
If you beat your sister, you will go to jail.
Why am I concerned with honor killings in other countries? Because the “custom” is being brought to this country.

Maybe they should be forced to leave. Do whatever you want in your country, but leave your stupid-ass laws/customs there.
Wow, talk about being ethnocentric. How about trying to judge a culture from its own context, and not COMPARING? Its impossible, because your eurocentric bias, as seen in the last comment, is unavoidable.
Man, I give this website too much undeserved hits.
And Michelle, your tagging of this topic as being “Islamic” is very shocking to me.
Don’t judge Islam based on Muslims TODAY. Muslims today, for all I care, are the worst Muslims to live on the face of Earth.
Attacking the Muslims and their habits today is fine, I agree with you, but to LABEL an entire religion? I don’t think so.
Its also cool how every time I post to this website, you reply with a whole new blog posting. Its happened 3/3 times before, and I await the fourth.
