Islam does not mean “peace”.
December 17, 2009
No matter how many times it gets repeated, do not believe anyone who tells you that Islam is derived from the word “salam” meaning peace.
Islam is derived from the word “aslama” which means “surrender” or “submission.”
Anyone telling you differently is trying to obfuscate. Ask a Muslim what Islam means. If they are being honest, they will tell you “submission to God.” Any other answer is to confuse you.

The official greeting of Islam:
Peace be upon you.
Its the action, not the literal meaning of the word that defines a religion. Look at the positive change brought about in Humanity by Islam.
Christians, or Maseehiuuon, in Arabic, are literally defined as: “The Dwellers, or The Followers of the Dweller (maseeh=dweller, meaning Christ (PBUH))”
Yeah, Dwellers, guess that sounds more free than a person “who submits to God”. Maybe Islam is more to the point, even in the literal sense?
Again, peace be upon you.
Arabs call the Christians “Dwellers”…but Christians do not call themselves “Dwellers”. What is your point?
Hmmm, and here I thought the official greeting was an AK-47 being racked.
