I learned that little fact reading a article by Theodore Dalrymple, a retired physician, “The world before vaccines is too easy to forget.” He witnessed a friend paralyzed by polio and saw a patient who contracted smallpox. The recent death of a girl in England who died after receiving the HPV vaccine triggered more anti-vaccine hysteria and this article is his response. He correctly points out that many more lives will be saved than have been lost from this vaccine (1 in 1.4 million).
Could someone please send this to Mark Lemstra? His recent column in the StarPhoenix was practically anti-vaccine as it downplayed the positive benefits of vaccines in reducing deaths and completely ignored the reduction in the numbers of people becoming sick.

He does not. In the alphabet soup following his name, you will not find “MD” and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying.
My mistake…he is (among other things) a Doctor of Public Health.
Explain to me, then, how you, a blogger, feel you are more qualified on this topic than a Doctor of Public Health?

Here’s a question for you: why are you so vociferous in your defense of Lemstra? Why do you care what I write? Are you dating him? Are you his student?
You have a PhD and you spend your time writing about other’s credentials and pink newspapers? Sure.
Mark Lemstra is not the issue. It’s people like you who feel you have the right or authority to attack or ridicule others. Frankly it’s a form of cowardly bullying and I have no respect for people like you.
Oh … I get it … you’re implying that I don’t have a PhD just because I express an opinion about topics other than my primary research focus.
You don’t read blogs much, do you?
I know a lawyer who blogs about food and a scientist who blogs about knitting. My co-blogger is a veterinarian (you’d know that if you read the “about” page).
