I’ll take the vaccines, thanks.
Jenny McCarthy and George Bernard Shaw.
Would you have ever in a million years thought that those two had anything in common? They do.
George Bernard Shaw was also a celebrity anti-vaccination nut.
Don’t take your medical advice from celebrities unless they also have a medical degree.
I learned that little fact reading a article by Theodore Dalrymple, a retired physician, “The world before vaccines is too easy to forget.” He witnessed a friend paralyzed by polio and saw a patient who contracted smallpox. The recent death of a girl in England who died after receiving the HPV vaccine triggered more anti-vaccine hysteria and this article is his response. He correctly points out that many more lives will be saved than have been lost from this vaccine (1 in 1.4 million).
Could someone please send this to Mark Lemstra? His recent column in the StarPhoenix was practically anti-vaccine as it downplayed the positive benefits of vaccines in reducing deaths and completely ignored the reduction in the numbers of people becoming sick.
