Saskatoon Civic Elections
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 which is election day for Saskatoon Mayor, city council, and school board trustees. Election day is only 15 weeks away.
I know that a lot of people don’t really care about civic elections but it is at the local level that individuals can actually make a difference. I’m not a Canadian citizen so I can’t vote here but I’m going to encourage everyone who can vote to really participate.
Let’s start with an interesting bit of information. Do you know what the qualifications are to run for school board trustee? Answer after the break:
To run for school board, you must be a Canadian citizen who has lived in Saskatchewan for six months and in the school district for three months. And you have to be at least 18 years old. Oops. I almost forgot. You also have to have 10 other electors sign your nomination papers.
That’s it?!?!?!
Anyone out there interested in running?
