No Newspaper?
I’m not happy with the StarPhoenix for a number of reasons but the latest is their choice of editorial cartoon for the December 31, 2008 issue. The gist of the cartoon is that the “Universal New Year’s Resolution” is for George Bush to be in jail. Nice. Must be an easy day in the news room when there’s nothing better to comment on than the outgoing US President and the false claim that everyone thinks he is a criminal. That’s patently ridiculous.
My husband tried to point out that the editors don’t draw the cartoon. Not good enough. They do select which one they publish and their choice says something.
I’m a major newspaper addict. I like the feel of a newspaper. I like standing in my kitchen, drinking coffee, and reading the paper. I can’t get the National Post delivered in Saskatoon and I haven’t even seen it at newstands for months. I really, really dislike the editorial slant of the Globe and Mail so that’s not an option. In the past, the StarPhoenix has been annoying but not sufficiently to make me cancel my subscription. Is this enough to make me cancel? Not alone but maybe combined with other editorial choices. I could get my news online. NewsTalk650 is always more current.
Something to contemplate.

I live newspaper free. I only read news on-line. They no longer deliver National Post to Saskatoon. I did try The Globe and Mail but canceled after one week after they failed to cover the story of the Hezballah/Hezbollah billboard in Windsor.
