I Am This Close To Home Schooling
Daughter No. 1 came home with a classroom newsletter a week ago. It announced that there will be a “Christmas Bizarre” in December. Seriously. To give them the benefit of the doubt, I thought perhaps it was going to be one of those Bizarre Bazaars. You know?
No.
The school newsletter has arrived and it is indeed just an ordinary Christmas Bazaar.
Here’s a thought.
Teachers should be required to maintain at least a B average in University in order to qualify to teach our children. In light of the fact that there is a glut of “qualified” teachers in the province, schools should hire the most qualified and academically talented graduates to teach in our schools. They should know the difference between the word “bizarre” and “bazaar”. They should understand that the earth’s magnetic field does not keep our moon in orbit. They should know the meaning of the word “repel“. As a corollary, substitute teachers should also be chosen according to academic talent, training and skill. I do not want to see another person who “used to be a university professor” in [name random "Asian" country] but is now on the sub-list, teaching my 6 year old.
Wait. I’m not done. New post is fermenting.
