Just throw out the plastic and use glass.
After all of the controversy regarding BPA leaching from plastic bottles and dishes and coatings, is it any surprise that researchers in Alberta have reported that chemicals leach from plastic test tubes?
The chemicals could have potentially affected science experiments and medical lab tests. I can’t even begin to estimate how many studies this may have affected. I kind of miss the fun of wet lab work, but I’m so glad that I’m not doing it right now.
Glass test tubes. Glass pipettes. Glass syringes.
OMG. What about the sample jars? Urine samples are taken in sterile plastic jars which are sometimes allowed to sit for hours before assays are done. And petri dishes? Hard plastic in many cases.
On a bright note, think of the research opportunities studying the effects of using plastic in labs. I smell a dissertation topic or two!
