Can I trade cereal boxtops for a journalism degree?
I’ve thought about going to journalism school with a focus on science reporting. Notice the past tense. I’ve learned in the past year that “journalists” don’t always actually do any investigating which is the really interesting part. And sometimes they don’t even do any reporting. Actually, what they sometimes seem to do is just really similar to writing Cliff Notes of someone else’s work, namely press releases.
SnappedShot has documented this beautifully. The New York Times uses “talking points” straight from Barack Obama’s campaign as an outline for their guide to the last debate. The “journalist” might have even just copied the entire Obama e-mail and, after a few edits and a bit of additional text, ta-da! Instant article. Phew. That must be hard work.
I don’t see how anyone could still doubt the liberal bias of a vast majority of the mainstream media.
If you don’t believe it, you’re probably part of it.
