Only ugly women need apply?
Great. So, according to this article, Sarah Palin’s “glamour poses tricky questions for both parties to answer.” Why? Why is this important? Is any attractive woman automatically excluded from running for public office? Does she need to have a makeunder to be taken seriously?
This is just crap. My initial thought was that the problem is men not taking her seriously because of her looks but women are the ones being critical of her. Karen O’Conner (director of the Women and Politics Institute at American University in Washington) (ugh) actually said “There is the ‘babe factor.’ It’s almost as if she is cultivating that.” Oh no! You mean Palin chooses attractive clothing and wears flattering makeup? Say it isn’t so!
Some are even accusing McCain of selecting Palin based solely on her looks. Yeah … she has so little experience. You know, just some community organizing, some time in a state legislature and a couple of years in the Senate. Oh, wait, that’s not Palin.

Anyone who knows anything of history knows that great social changes are impossible without feminine upheaval. Social progress can be measured exactly by the social position of the fair sex, the ugly ones included.
