Oh no. David Letterman’s feelings were hurt because John McCain cancelled an appearance on The Late Show but did an interview with Katie Couric.
I don’t know the whole story and I really don’t feel like tracking it down or watching on YouTube but I don’t see how the two compare. The Late Show is entertainment and an appearance by a candidate is meant to show a personal, lighter side of a politician. So, funny ha-ha jokes in the middle of a financial crisis could seriously backfire. Katie Couric, for all of her faults, is an anchor on the evening news and would therefore be expected to conduct a serious interview.
