Darwin Awards Disqualification

September 25, 2008

So, I would think that crossing traintracks by jumping across the tracks inbetween moving train cars is quite risky.  In fact, I’ve refused to cross traintracks inbetween train cars that were actually stopped.  I always assumed that the train could start moving at any moment and I’d rather be late for class than get run over by a train.

So, repeatedly crossing the tracks while trains are moving is really pushing your luck.  Someone is bound to be injured and that’s exactly what happened Sunday in Saskatoon.  Russell Bluecloud tripped while crossing the tracks and was run over.  He died at the scene.

Now, I would have recommended him for a Darwin Award except for the fact that, at the age of 32, he already had 13 children and 3 grandchildren.
