Leave pink alone!
Enough.
I’ve had it. Why does anything and everything pink have to be co-opted for breast cancer awareness/fund-raising/education/whatever? It’s not even October yet and it’s already happening. It’s year-round now. Pink ribbons everywhere.
My daughters love pink anything but I’ll be damned if I’m going to encourage this marketing ploy. So much of it is just essentially a scam. “Buy our stuff and you’ll help cure breast cancer.” As if. For most of those annoying pink products, a tiny percentage is donated. If you want to contribute to breast cancer research, just write a check to an actual research foundation or your local university hospital.
And, while we’re on the topic, the number one cancer which kills women is not breast cancer. More women die of lung cancer. And the leading cause of death is heart disease.

I was going to post this! I was at the grocery store – Sobey’s I think – and saw a bag of SunChips. The package caught my eye because it was a nice pink colour – I thought it was a new flavour. But it turned out that it was just Harvest Cheddar. The packaging was pink because SunChips sponsors Komen Race for the Cure. If a person buys the special chips, they can submit the proof of purchase on line – and SunChips will donate 25 cents. Seriously? I did not buy the chips. I am also sick of the whole breast cancer is pink thing.
