Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs?
No. No. No.
Please 20th Century Fox, please do not make a movie which includes woolly mammoths, sabretooth tigers and dinosaurs. Please.
Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is due in theaters July 4, 2009. I don’t know what the full storyline is but the trailer implies that dinosaurs are still alive under the ice. Specifically, Scrat falls through a hole in the ice and comes face-to-face with a T. rex. (Can you tell I’m a science geek?)
Dinosaurs became extinct 65 million years ago. Woolly mammoths first lived 135,000 years ago.
I know this is just a movie. I get that. The problem is that this kind of misinformation in the form of entertainment can stick with children for a long time. Heck, the movie will probably be shown to our children at school which is another problem altogether.
Maybe the trailer is just a tease and isn’t the true storyline. As crazybengal suggested to me, maybe the movie involves time travel. That would be a bizarre twist but it would at least explain the presence of dinosaurs.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed. No dinosaur/mammoth buddy pictures!

Oh, man. You’re right. That sort of things sticks with children for a long time. We don’t need more science misinformation fed to kids.
