Favorite Children’s Books

I’m not much into rhymes – I generally abhor children’s books that try to do the Dr. Seuss thing, and do it quite badly. I should keep a list for a separate post. On the other hand, some authors do the rhyming thing absolutely perfectly. One Duck Stuck is fun for adults to read (really) and the kids love helping you out with the sound effects. I love the ending (don’t worry, no spoilers here…but look at the last pages…), and so do the kids, because they get to figure out what comes next all on their own (okay, you may need to point to the clue). A great book, sure to keep you from nodding off with the kid and sure not to make you barf. Next post…kids’ books that will make you barf…again, I need to keep a list.

We loved this book, too.
However, I was always slightly worried that with my sleep-deprived mom-brain I might accidentally slip in a different word that rhymes with “stuck.”
Kids often need to be stimulated on many different levels to enjoy reading. Bayards have a fantastic new range of books appealing to all ages : http://www.Storyboxbooks.com http://www.Adventureboxbooks.com http://www.Discoveryboxbooks.com
That’s dangerously close to spam and the filter did catch it (too many links).
I’ll let it go.
BTW … the “Newsflash” on the DiscoveryBox Books homepage is very poorly written. It’s exactly that kind of detail that makes me decide to not order something. Poor writing on the website is a clue that the magazines might also be poorly written.
