Racial Profiling? What do you expect?
Sometimes, when the Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers enter a workplace to arrest illegal immigrants, legal immigrants and citizens are detained until their status can be determined.
Who’s more likely to be detained: a blond woman with a southern accent or an East Indian woman with an East Indian accent? The East Indian. Duh.
Could it be racial profiling? Stereotyping? Making assumptions? Is it wrong? Yep. Yep. Yep. Nope.
I believe that’s called law enforcement and common sense. ICE officials detain everyone and then release those who are legal. If officials knew that a known criminal was in a building, wouldn’t they detain everyone who fit the description and then narrow the possibilities down? They aren’t randomly detaining people. They target jobsites where they know a significant number of illegals work.
Apparently, the legal residents and citizens detained by ICE are suing. Of course they are. It’s the American way, or so some would have us believe. Detained for one hour and now they want $5000 so that they can feel better. And they want to be on Oprah. (Not really but it is the talk show of victimhood.)
Maybe these good citizens could have reported the known illegals at their workplace. There might even be reward for that.
