Miley Cyrus, Teens, and the Internet

June 7, 2008

Raise your hand if you did something stupid as a teenager or college student that you regret now.

Let’s see … yep, that’s everyone.

If you’re over 30, you’re safely past that and most likely no evidence remains. If you’re under 30, not so lucky. Everybody has a cellphone camera and almost as many have video cameras. Combine that with an easy distribution system (Facebook. Youtube. MySpace.) and you’ve got trouble. Your weak moment of youthful indiscretion will be immortalized and globalized. Future employers will see the photos/videos as will family members. Potential spouses. Your future mother-in-law.

If you wouldn’t do something in front of your mom, better make sure no one is recording the moment for posterity. And certainly don’t record it yourself.

And on that note … Miley Cyrus‘s parents might want to take away her cellphone and/or digital camera.
