The Original Purpose of Polygamy
in Islam is to protect orphans and widows.
So Muhammad married…lets see…16 wives, had 2 concubines, and had sex with at least 4 other random women who offered up their wares to satisfy Muhammad’s appetite.
Was Safiyah an orphan? No. Was she a widow? Why yes…because Muhammad’s tribe killed her husband. She was part of the “booty” from the raid.
Was Aisha an orphan? No. Was she a widow? No. She was 6 years old when she was married off to Muhammad.
Was Hafsa an orphan? No. Was she a widow? Yes, she was an 18 year-old widow but her father had found her a new husband – but then decided against the marriage because he knew the Prophet wanted her.
Was Zainad an orphan? No. Was She a widow? No. She was married to Muhammad’s adopted son but Muhammad decided he wanted her so…
etc. etc. etc….
Why be against marriage, it’s in our nature, isn’t it?
