“Product of Canada” will soon actually mean it’s a product of Canada.

Bravo to Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada.
Currently, a product can be labelled as “product of Canada” if it is substantially changed from it’s original form and if 51%+ of the profit is realized in Canada. So, apple juice concentrate from China can be reconstituted and packaged as being a “product of Canada.” No more! The federal government is proposing a much needed change.
Under the proposed new guidelines, when a label says “Product of Canada,” both the contents and processing of that food must be Canadian.
Thank you!
