What’s Happening in Lebanon? Update.

So, if I get this right, many people suspect that Hizballah, with Iran’s support, is planning to overthrow the US backed Lebanese government.  And the internet stirs with suspicions that it has begun. 

Lebanon’s highest Sunni religious authority, Grand Mufti Rashid Qabbani, lashed out at the “armed gangs of outlaws” and call on Hizballah leadership to immediately withdraw them from Sunni neighbourhoods and warning that Lebanon’s Sunnis “had had enough”. He also pointed the finger at Iran as having a hand in today’s violence.

[...] Christian Lebanese Forces leader, Samir Geagea, referred to Hizballah as the Mahdi Army in Lebanon.

And why should we care?  Says Holger:

I just said it last week that the Iranian plan is simple: With Hezbollah in power in Lebanon, they can position the terrorist group as a “government” and thus will be given “rights” to strategic weapons that will simply then be used to target Israel. It won’t take Hezbollah much time to conjure up some sort of propaganda that will allow them to hit Israel with long range missiles supplied by their daddies in Tehran. So in the end, we will once again see the world sit on its hands while the Iranians arm themselves with nuclear weapons and at the same time, disrupt and take down the governments of foreign lands.
