Think you are cool in your Kuffiyah?
May 8, 2008
Arabs don’t think so. And they are making fun of you. Stop co-opting their culture, Infidel! Your ignorance of the kuffiyah’s symbolism is painful to them – they are very sensitive you know. Anyway, I have been informed that the Kuffiyah, like the Che T-shirt, is passe, and perhaps you should move onto something even better:
Fresh Jive Victimized Tee
From Urban Outfitters. They have connected the dots for you.
Update – oh – too bad – Urban Outfitters took my photo away. You will have to click the Fresh Jive link to see the lovely t-shirts – Oh wait – it’s gone! Yay! LGF gets stuff done!

I’m still rockin the damn keffiyah no matter what. Westerners are gonna take over the world. BOW DOWN
I wear it cos I support the Palistinian cause…isn’t that reason enough?
Do you support Hamas?
Confused about how to dress for a beheading?

It isnt a strictly Palestinian wear. arabs from all over the Peninsula wear it, well before Palestine ever became a recognized entity. Color however does, in some cases, have meaning. Brown would mean Bedouin or other desert tribal affiliation, Red would mean Jordanian, Green would mean Syrian, Black is NOT Palestinian however. its generic and arabs from all over the middle east have worn the color. I myself am a jew of Yemenite origine, and i still wear a kiffiyeh proudly for my arab heritage, not to support the Palestinian cause.
Well, if you’re wearing it in the Western world, it stands for “I support the Palestinians”.
