I was out browsing a used book store today and found a vintage (1976) copy of Walt Disney’s “Scamp” comic book. I bought it for my kids…but really it was for me. I remember this comic from my childhood. Scamp is one of the puppies seen at the very end of Lady and the Tramp, one of my favorite Disney movies. I cruised through the comic reminiscing, and was delighted to find this ad on the back cover:
The ad states that a pen records computer read-out, simulated lights flash, bionic cables plug into figure (wtf), her head turns and her bionic ear pings, simulated dryer is included!
Fantastic! I would have loved this as a kid. I didn’t have a Jaime Sommers doll but I wanted one. I only had Malibu Barbie and Skipper who cavorted with a Johnny Gage action figure. Johnny was kind of short, but even way back then I knew that Ken was too gay for my girls.

Oh how the times change.
Can you even imagine a “Sarah Connors Beauty Salon”? A shooting range would be more likely.
