Low-carb — The good, the bad and the bacon.
This is the first day that I’m really giving the low-carb diet a go.
I did have sugar in my coffee but I’m addicted to caffeine and a quick reduction in caffeine consumption means a quick headache which seems counter-productive in the quest for no headaches. So, coffee it is and I can only drink coffee with cream and sugar. The plan is to move towards more tea (no sugar) and less coffee.
So … what’s good about the low-carb diet so far? It’s easier to just skip the carbs than to decide which carb is “healthier” based on the erroneous information which is ingrained in my oft-dieting braing. Instead of “should I have a muffin or a piece of toast?” I just don’t have either.
What’s bad? I like candy. Especially chocolate. Candy = carbs. Since it’s easier for me to not have any than to have just a small amount, it’s no candy for me for awhile. I’m already starting plans to have an “all candy, all day” birthday.
And then we come to bacon. I’ve covered this before. Bacon tastes good. Bacon is not a carb. Yeah! Don’t forget … almost everything tastes better with bacon wrapped around it. Really … who would eat a scallop by choice if it wasn’t bacon-wrapped.
I just realized that I’m going to have to wait awhile to enjoy a Mo Bacon bar. Too sad.
