Ever hear of the Flylady.net??
I was recently bemoaning the horrid mess that my house is always in – the jumbled shoes, disorganized cupboards, dishes in the sink, laundry on the floor (the dog currently has to climb the pile to get to the top for his nap) and the trail of glasses, cups and plates throughout the house..oh and the tape and stickers stuck to the floor and the grape juice under the kitchen table and the stacks of books everywhere…well, you get the drift. Anyhoo. My friend suggested that I try the FlyLady technique. Check out the site.
How exciting! A plan! Well. I don’t think the plan was meant for a person like me. The first step to a clean and organized home, is a clean sink. FlyLady gives great directions and tips on how to clean your kitchen sink. And then you go from there.
I have never been able to get much past the clean sink (with loaded dishwasher and clean kitchen counter as added bonus). I just end up feeling sort of happy about the sink…and then, exhausted from the heroic effort, I go read a book. Or watch TV. Or read my daily blogs. Or walk the dog. Or take a nap. Also – I can also only clean when the kids are at school. I cannot have any distractions when cleaning. And my husband can’t be home – ’cause he just messes everything up behind me and if I am going to clean, it has to stay clean for at least a few hours or it isn’t worth it.
So I failed FlyLady training. But I am sure it will work for some of you.
(I guess I am SO lucky not to live somewhere with ants and cockroaches and all – it is so cold here most of the year, it is like a sterile environment bug-wise. Don’ worry – I do use the broom and vacuum cleaner at least once a week – so it’s not like, dangerous, or anything.)

I’m already a Flylady failure.
She talks about CHAOS — Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome. Clean house = no CHAOS. I just use the “I don’t care” method.
If you don’t like how my house looks, go somewhere else. Snarky but it works.
I can have people over on Thursdays.
I am glad to see that I am not the only crashed FlyBaby! I kept trying to take off but my wings didn’t seem to work and I like my bare feet.

I’ve been doing the Flylady thing off and on for the past four or five years….these days it’s more on than off. It’s taken me that long to get some of it in my head and working…and I still struggle with everything but it’s better than it ever has been – not perfect, but better.
