Did you ever notice that every story has to have the “local connection”? The local press will hunt out a local connection no matter how tenuous. Except, of course, when a real local connection actually exists.
On April 9th, five Canadian blogs/bloggers were sued by Richard Warman. One of the bloggers — Kate MacMillan — lives in Saskatchewan. Was it in our local paper? Nope. Was it a big secret? Why no — bloggers in the US knew about it!
So … when does our local media report it? Today. Twelve days later.
Here’s a suggestion for local reporters who want to know what’s happening to free speech in Canada. Read Ezra Levant’s blog every day. Easy peasy. (Don’t forget to give him credit!)
